Wednesday weddings may seem an odd heading for this article but let me explain. Last year, I photographed over 60 weddings for the fourth year in a row. This is only possible due to the rise in midweek weddings in Bristol and across the south west. As the title suggests, it’s the rise in Wednesday weddings that has really taken off. In 2017, I photographed a total of ten Wednesday weddings. This is something that when I started, back in 2000, would never have happened. Yet here we are and 2018 looks like it’s going to be another popular year for Wednesday weddings.
So why Wednesdays?
The first and main reason for couples choosing Wednesday weddings is cost. You can save a lot of money by getting married on a Wednesday. This is mainly due to the venues – they will charge a lot less for mid week weddings. So why are Wednesdays so much more popular than Tuesdays or Thursdays? To be honest, I can’t say for certain but I have a theory. Most of the wedding venues will hold two or three weddings over the weekend. If couples want to get married in the week, maybe couples are being steered towards the middle of the week. This gives the venues the chance to have a break in between the weekend weddings and the middle of the week.
Along with venues, you may be able to save a little money on other suppliers. Car hire, discos, bands and yes, your photographer. I try very hard to keep my prices down as much as possible. I do offer a mid week saving for those weddings on a Monday to Thursday. So if you are planning a wedding and are looking at keeping the cost down, why not get in touch to see how I can help. If you like my work, the next best step is for us to get together for a chat. This can be done in the comfort of your own home. I will bring with me a selection of albums and explain in greater detail how I work as a wedding photographer. It will also give you the opportunity to let me know what you are looking for in your wedding photographer.
